That's the word with us. Jennifer and Rachel have been friends for
20 years, and taking this next step has been a blessing to both of us. We have been graced with the desire to help others, and the drive
to be the best at what we do, and doula work is our target!
We believe there is a "right" doula for every woman who wants one, and we strive to do whatever we can to be the right doula for you!
I'm Jennifer and I am so excited to begin this journey as a doula.
Let me tell you a bit about myself and why I decided to become a doula. First, I come from a pretty large family and have always loved and felt comfortable with children. I have always had a great appreciation and interest in childbirth. While I am not one who may handle a bloody nose or broken bone well, I am fascinated when it comes to bringing a new life into this world. I attended college for graphic design and have achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree. After working in this field for almost 10 years, I felt like I needed something more. I (along with Rachel) was invited to attend the births
of a very close friend's children.
In those moments, I knew THIS is what I was meant to do. That moment when I assisted our friend as she gave birth. I supported her, held her hand, encouraged her as she pushed, kept her calm and watched as she brought a new life into this world. It was the most amazing experience I have ever been a part of and I didn't want it to end. I told everyone I knew, that if I could do that, help, support, encourage and comfort women in one of their most intimate moments, I would do it every day. I have always been extremely interested in birth and I WANT to do this. Becoming a doula is my calling. I believe that every woman should have the opportunity to experience HER birth on HER terms, without judgement. I will offer resources & information and support your choices so that you may feel confident in your decisions. I can't wait to assist you on your special journey as a mommy-to-be!
I'm Rachel, and I have spent a greater part of my adult(ish) life helping others. Right now I am trained in both birth and postpartum doula work, but this journey started many years ago. While in college, I worked with adults with mental illnesses in a group home setting, then moved onto working with at risk youth in Lancaster City in a college preparation program. Later, I became a Certified Peer Specialist, specializing in pregnant and new mothers with mental illnesses. I was then fortunate enough to support a close friend (with Jennifer) during the pregnancy and birth of both of her children, and I realized that becoming a doula was the work that all my experience had been leading up to. I have been trained in trauma informed care, supporting survivors of abuse, as well as extensive education on supporting individuals with mental illnesses and Postpartum Mood Disorders. I ADORE being able to help others, and my outspoken nature seems to be a natural ice breaker in many situations. I believe that every woman deserves to have a unique and memorable birth experience, on her terms. I look forward to hearing from you!
